PESHAWAR: About 10kg of heroin and 7.2kg of hashish were seized in separate operations in Peshawar and Nowshera, foiling attempts to smuggle the narcotics.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad intercepted a truck (TAC-451) on Kohat Road in Peshawar and recovered 10,000 grams of heroin concealed inside the vehicle.
An Afghan national, identified as Noor Muhammad, son of Qari, was arrested at the scene. A case was registered at the Excise Police Station Peshawar, and further investigation is under way.
In a separate operation, personnel of Excise Police Station Nowshera intercepted a flying coach (C-4011 Swat) near Ajab Bagh Check Post. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 7,200 grams of hashish.
The seized narcotics were taken into custody, and a case was registered at the Excise Police Station Nowshera for further legal proceedings. The department said the operations were part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the province.
