A 40-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified armed assailant near Shirazi Chowk in Machhar Colony, District Keamari, police said on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Hashim, son of Soorat Alam. According to police, Hashim was allegedly targeted near his home. He sustained two bullet wounds in the chest, which proved fatal.
Another person was reportedly sitting with the victim at the time of the shooting. However, the man managed to run away when the assailant opened fire. Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and recovered a 9mm pistol shell from the crime scene. The victim’s body was taken to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said the incident was being investigated from different angles.
