The Human Rights Council of Pakistan and Soch Aurat on Sunday staged a protest outside the Karachi Press Club, demanding justice in three cases involving the alleged sexual assault of 18-month-old Aizal, murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali and recovery of the body of six-year-old Muhammad Wali.
The demonstration was led by council leader Jamshed Hussain and attended by a large number of men and women. The protesters carried placards and banners bearing slogans including “Arrest the killers” and “Give us justice.”
The protesters condemned the alleged abuse of Aizal, the killing of Ali and the death of Wali. They said the failure to trace the six-year-old boy’s body for two days and provide justice to the family was deeply alarming.
They called for the government and senior authorities to introduce stricter laws to prevent cases of violence and sexual abuse against children and ensure that suspects involved in such crimes were arrested immediately and given exemplary punishment.
The protesters also demanded transparent and impartial investigations into the cases of Aizal, Ali and Wali, along with the immediate provision of justice to their families. At the conclusion of the protest, participants lit candles in memory of Aizal, Ali and Wali and offered prayers urging the state to take concrete and effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Karachi Bar Association President Aamir Nawaz Warraich also attended the demonstration. He expressed solidarity with the protesters and supported their demands.
