The Sindh Rangers and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) have arrested a suspected militant allegedly affiliated with the outlawed Fitna al-Khawarij group during a joint intelligence-based operation in the Jacob Lines area of Jamshed Town.
According to a statement issued by the Rangers on Sunday, the suspect was identified as Shehzad alias Dangar. Weapons and explosives were recovered from his possession. The Rangers said the suspect was affiliated the Mansoor Group of Fitna al-Khawarij. The group’s leader, Mansoor, had previously been residing in Kunwari Colony, Manghopir, but went into hiding in Waziristan during the Karachi operation to evade arrest.
According to the statement, Shehzad joined the group in 2025 after being indoctrinated by Mansoor and was tasked with arranging funding for the organisation from Karachi. The suspect allegedly contacted various people in Manghopir and persuaded them to provide monthly financial contributions to Fitna al-Khawarij. He subsequently collected the money and transferred it to Waziristan through Easypaisa accounts provided by Mansoor’s associate identified as Din Muhammad who was based in Tank.
During the interrogation, the suspect allegedly disclosed that the money was ultimately transferred to Mansoor and used to finance various terrorist activities. The Rangers further claimed that Shehzad travelled to Waziristan on several occasions and held secret meetings with Mansoor. In June 2026, he allegedly met Mansoor in Birmal, an area bordering Afghanistan, where he was instructed to strengthen his network in Karachi for terrorist activities and extortion.
The statement said Mansoor subsequently sent weapons and explosives to Shehzad through an unidentified associate. After receiving the weapons and explosives, Shehzad and his associates were allegedly planning terrorist attacks at sensitive locations in Karachi, the paramilitary force claimed. Raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect’s other associates, the statement said.
