ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman has called on the Azad Kashmir Election Commission (AKEC) to withdraw its decision to hold re-polling at nine polling stations in LA-15.
“The decision to hold re-polling at nine polling stations in the constituency of PPP candidate Zia Qamar should be reviewed,” she said in a statement on Wednesday. She said presiding officers were present at all the nine polling stations, but no voter cast a vote. People in these areas had boycotted the election; there was no issue of landslides, fallen trees, or blocked roads, she said, adding that the Azad Kashmir Election Commission should review the re-polling decision.
“The election result of the successful PPP candidate in LA-15 should be maintained,” she said and added that the purpose of re-polling should not be to change the result in favour of the successful PPP candidate.
