Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi met with Moroccan Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune at the Governor House on Wednesday.
Honourary Consul General of Morocco in Karachi Mirza Ishtiaq Baig was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on expanding bilateral trade, investment, economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, tourism and other matters of mutual interest between Pakistan and Morocco.
The governor said the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Morocco should be transformed into a stronger economic and commercial partnership. He noted that both countries had significant potential to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, culture and tourism, thereby taking bilateral relations to new heights.
He said Morocco’s upcoming hosting of the FIFA World Cup presented an important opportunity to strengthen trade and business ties between Pakistan and Morocco. He added that the event could serve as an effective platform to showcase Pakistani products in international markets and highlight Pakistan’s export potential.
The meeting also discussed prospects for promoting Pakistani products, particularly Pakistan-made footballs, during the FIFA World Cup on the global stage. Hashmi said the global demand for Pakistani-made footballs reflected the country’s strong industrial capability, high manufacturing standards and export potential.
He added that Pakistan had earned international recognition for the production of sports goods and should further expand its presence in global markets. The governor also emphasised the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation between Pakistan and Morocco, saying closer public engagement would further reinforce friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to explore new avenues for trade, investment and business collaboration while further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding relations between Pakistan and Morocco.
