LAHORE:Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said that Pakistan’s future and prosperity is linked with its youth. The young generation would play a leading role in taking the country towards development and progress.
Secretary Youth Affairs said this while addressing an Int’l Youth Day ceremony organised by the Youth Affairs & Sports Department Punjab at SBP E-Library on Wednesday. DG Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad, Deputy Director Admin Alhamra Syed Umair Shah and Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed and hundreds of male and female students from different colleges and universities also participated in the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said that young people were spending around eight hours a day on social media and urged them to devote more time to healthy sports activities in the grounds. “The Punjab government is going to launch an Orange Economy Programme in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), aimed at creating new opportunities for young people”.
A panel discussion titled ‘Artificial Intelligence and Future Challenges’ was also held as part of the programme. DG Sports Punjab, Deputy Director Admin Alhamra Umair Shah, Dr Fauzia, M Daniyal and M Mubeen participated in the discussion and shared their views on the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence.
Tariq Qureshi said that Pakistan has been lucky to have 65% youth in its population. “The massive number of youth could be converted from a liability to an asset through proper planning, guidance and appropriate usage of AI”.
He said that it is right time for our youth to go for digital skills and entrepreneurship programmes. “The modern era is belonged to AI and digital skills so our youth must adapt themselves to modern lifestyle and earning skills”.
He further said that China has proved its worth at global level by launching numerous products and mostly Pakistan traders and youth are engaged with these Chinese products. “I would advise Pakistan youth to use their energies and talent in producing their own products instead of trading Chinese products”.
YouTube growth strategist Huma Naseer, M Daniyal and other students shared their E-Rozgar Programme success stories to motivate the young audience. The Government College Music Society added to the festivities with patriotic songs, enthralling the audience and creating an energetic atmosphere. A Youth Day Fun Quiz Programme was also organised under which successful students were given prizes.
