Not every wound leaves a bruise. Some are hidden behind forced smiles, declining confidence and the silent struggle of people who feel they have nowhere to turn. Bullying is often dismissed as a harmless joke or a normal part of growing up, but its impact reaches far beyond a single moment of humiliation. Whether it happens in schools, workplaces or social spaces, bullying affects a person’s confidence, mental well-being and sense of belonging. The most painful reality is not only that bullying exists but also that it continues because many of us choose to ignore it. We see someone being mocked, excluded or constantly targeted, yet we remain silent. Teachers, parents, colleagues and friends often underestimate the damage, believing the victim will simply ‘move on’. But for the person experiencing it, those moments can leave lasting emotional scars.

A society that values compassion cannot continue to normalise cruelty. Schools, workplaces and communities must create safer environments where people feel protected and respected. Clear policies, awareness and open conversations are necessary to prevent bullying and support those affected by it.
