PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) deputy chief Liaqat Baloch has expressed serious concern over the case registered against senior customs officer Dr Karam Elahi, a resident of Lower Dir district, and the ongoing trial against him.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said portraying an honest, dutiful and upright government officer as controversial in the media before completion of a transparent legal process was contrary to the basic principles of justice and a matter of serious concern for the judicial system and state institutions. The JI leader said Dr Karam Elahi’s family was also facing severe mental distress and uncertainty because of the situation.
