Islamabad: A High Court lawyer escaped unhurt on Tuesday after three unidentified armed men opened fire on his vehicle in Islamabad’s D-12 sector, leaving a passerby injured in the process.
The targeted victim, Malik Jaidat Yousaf Advocate, was driving near a PSO petrol pump on Major Road One when two vehicles — a black Toyota Hilux and a black Honda Civic — intercepted him.
Three armed individuals stepped out of the vehicles, one wielding a pistol and two carrying Kalashnikov rifles, before opening direct fire on the attorney’s car and firing shots into the air.While the lawyer managed to survive the assault unharmed, a nearby passerby was struck by a bullet during the barrage. The injured victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
According to sources, both vehicles operated by the assailants were fitted with registration plates appearing to belong to government entities. The sudden gunfire caused widespread panic among nearby residents and shoppers in the area.Meanwhile, area residents and citizens have demanded a swift law enforcement response, calling for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and a rigorous probe into how official government registration plates were utilized in the commission of the crime.
