Islamabad:The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit of the Islamabad Police recovered 50 stolen vehicles valued at Rs.1.63 billion and arrested 38 suspects during the first eight months of 2026, Islamabad Police Recover Rs1.63 Billion in Stolen Vehicles in Eight-Month Crackdown.
The recovered assets include 29 vehicles stolen earlier this year alongside 21 vehicles linked to cases reported in previous years. According to police authorities, the operations relied on targeted investigation techniques and advanced technical resources to track down the stolen property.
As part of the crackdown, law enforcement dismantled six active car-lifting syndicates, leading to the arrest of 14 gang members. Officers also took eight proclaimed offenders and repeat offenders into custody during the eight-month period.
Beyond vehicle recovery, unit operations extended to targeting drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession within the federal capital. These secondary actions resulted in the seizure of narcotics, including methamphetamine (ice) and hashish, as well as unlicensed handguns and ammunition.
Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation highlighted the ongoing operations, stating that protecting public property remains a core mandate for the department. He added that law enforcement will maintain indiscriminate action against organized vehicle theft syndicates and continue deploying all available resources to prosecute criminal elements.
