WANA: Unidentified armed men gunned down a prominent tribal and his companion in the Darazinda area in Lower South Waziristan on Sunday.
Sources said that Malik Badshah Sulemankhel, and his companion, Haji Gul Mir Khan Sulemankhel were on their way when gunmen opened fire on them, killing both victims on the spot.
Following the incident, residents and officials reached the scene, while the bodies were shifted for completion of the necessary legal formalities.
The incident triggered fear and panic among residents, who expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the area.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately known, and no group had claimed responsibility for the killings.
Police and security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.
