Five children drown in Jacobabad

SUKKUR: Five children aged between 2 and 9 years, lost their lives in separate drowning incidents in Jacobabad district, plunging the area into mourning.

According to the rescue and police officials, Veeran Chachar, 8, drowned in Rindwahi Canal near Jacobabad, and 4-year-old Ibrahim Jakhrani fell into deep water while playing near the bank of Dhiran Wah Canal and drowned. Two-year-old Sonia died after falling into an open drain near the municipal office.

In a tragic incident near Village Naseer Samijo, Taluka Thulh, two cousin sisters drowned in a fish pond. Their bodies were fished out and shifted to the Taluka Hospital.

They were identified as 7-year-old Ayesha and 9-year-old Sawera Pahour. Residents and relatives expressed grief over the loss.

Authorities have urged parents to keep a strict watch on their children to prevent such tragedies.
