LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has unveiled a landmark National Women’s High Performance and Coaching Development Programme, aimed at restoring women’s hockey in Pakistan on solid foundations. The initiative will formally launch with a 10-day national training camp in Islamabad on October 7, 2026.
The program seeks to establish a permanent and structured system across U15, U18, U21, and senior levels, ensuring continuity in player development. A key component is the up-skilling of local female coaches, enabling them to run structured sessions independently and sustain progress even in the absence of foreign experts.
The initiative will be technically led by Richard de Snaijer, the Dutch coach appointed in July as head coach of the Pakistan Women’s Hockey Team. With over two decades of elite coaching experience in the Netherlands and Belgium, de Snaijer will collaborate with Pakistani players and coaches to build a modern high-performance framework focusing on technical, tactical, physical, and mental standards.
After the development of proper structure athlete, multi-category selection of top talent across U-15, U-18, U-21, and senior divisions will be carried out for participation. Age-specific technical and physical assessments will shape tailored development plans. Female coaches will work directly with de Snaijer to master modern tactics and performance management. And female sports psychologists, strength trainers, and performance staff will be integrated into the camp.
