QUETTA: A police constable was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants while on duty in Balochistan’s Kachhi district, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred late Thursday night when unknown gunmen opened fire on Constable Abdul Rasheed, who was deployed at a police check post. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, while the attackers fled.
Police shifted the body to a nearby hospital, where legal formalities were completed before it was handed over to the victim’s family for burial.
Police have launched an investigation into the attack and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible. The motive behind the killing has not yet been determined.
