ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in exercise of its mandate to protect consumers’ interests and promote the availability of affordable telecommunication services, has reduced the charges related to the issuance of eSIMs by Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs).
It has fixed a maximum retail price of Rs1,500 for the issuance of an eSIM and for the conversion of a physical SIM into an eSIM across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Furthermore, the transfer of an eSIM profile from one mobile device to another shall be free of charge for up to ten (10) migrations, ensuring uniformity and greater consumer convenience. These reduced charges and the free eSIM transfer facility will come into effect from August 17, 2026.
The decision aims to promote affordability, transparency and wider adoption of eSIM technology, supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda.
