LAHORE:A province-wide voluntary blood donor registration campaign is being launched across the province on the directions of IG Punjab Abdul Kareem. This special campaign will continue from August 8 to September 8 in collaboration with Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Virtual Blood Bank.
The campaign aims to encourage the police force, educational institutions, civil society, and the general public to voluntarily donate blood and to ensure the timely availability of blood during medical emergencies.
IG Punjab directed all police officers and personnel to register themselves as voluntary blood donors with the Virtual Blood Bank. He also announced that police officers and personnel who donate blood will be awarded a CC-II Certificate. In addition, blood donors will receive an honorarium of at least Rs1,000 and one day of special leave.
IG Punjab directed all heads of police formations to personally supervise the blood donor registration campaign and conduct effective awareness drives in their respective areas. For this purpose, police officers will promote the registration of voluntary blood donors in collaboration with educational institutions, civil society, and other relevant organisations.
During the campaign, students, teachers, and citizens at universities and colleges will be encouraged to register as voluntary blood donors, while the disciplines of social work, criminology, medicine, nursing, and public health will be specially included in the campaign.
