PTCL, PPAF provide clean water to 150,000 in flood-hit areas

KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), in partnership with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), has completed a large-scale clean drinking water initiative, providing sustainable access to safe potable water for more than 150,000 people across water-stressed regions of South Punjab and Sindh, according to a statement on Friday.

The initiative addresses water sources damaged or contaminated during the 2024 floods, deploying Reverse Osmosis plants, rainwater harvesting systems, bio-sand filters, hand pumps and tube-wells across vulnerable communities. It builds on the first phase of PTCL’s water interventions in Thar, which benefited over 15,000 people.

Nadeem Khan, chief executive officer of PTCL, said clean drinking water is a basic human need rather than a privilege.

Nader Gul Barech, CEO of PPAF, said the partnership is strengthening resilience and expanding opportunities for climate-affected communities.The initiative falls under PTCL’s ‘DilSe’ sustainability platform.
