ISLAMABAD: The government raised the price of petrol by 4.45 rupees per litre while cutting diesel prices by Rs2 per litre for Thursday (today).
The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division announced the changes in a press release Wednesday, saying the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Effective Thursday, petrol will sell for 333.01 rupees per litre, up from 328.56 rupees. High Speed Diesel, the fuel that powers much of Pakistan’s freight and agricultural machinery, will drop to 383.86 rupees per litre from 385.86 rupees. Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed everyday, tracking global oil markets and the value of the rupee, and often ripple quickly into transport fares and food prices across the country.
