ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl on Wednesday condemned the filing of cases against the opposition leaders, saying this is a bid to suppress the voice of opposition and silence the opponents.
Senior JUIF leader Senator Kamran Murtaza, in reaction to registration of cases against Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan spokesman Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed and Pakistan Rights Movement head ex-senator Mushtaq Ahmad, issued a condemnation statement. According to the TTAP, the filing of cases against Akhunzada, Mushtaq and other opposition leaders is condemnable. A peaceful and constitutional protest is a fundamental democratic right of every citizen and political party, but the rulers seem to be afraid of this right.
Senator Kamran said the rulers should learn from the past, as attempts to suppress political dissent through vindictive actions and cases have not been successful in the past and will not be successful in the future. He demanded that all the cases be immediately withdrawn and the policy of political revenge be abandoned.
