The Sindh government has issued directives to remove all utility-related obstacles in advance to ensure the timely completion of the Yellow Line bus rapid transit (BRT) project.
The relevant agencies have been instructed to immediately complete all the utility shifting and relocation work to prevent any delays in the project. These directives were issued during an important meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport & Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Yellow Line BRT Project Director Kamal Dayo and other officials concerned. The meeting reviewed the progress of the Yellow Line BRT project and decided to further accelerate the pace of construction.
Yellow Line officials informed the meeting that construction work on various sections of the project is progressing according to schedule, and that the project’s depots are expected to be completed by the first quarter of the next year.
Memon directed the authorities to complete the second section of the Taj Haider Bridge as soon as possible so that the difficulties faced by the public can be eased.
He said that the pace of the project should be maintained at all costs, and all obstacles in the construction process should be removed immediately. He also ordered that all matters related to utility shifting and relocation be handled on a priority basis to ensure the project remains on schedule.
The senior minister said Yellow Line BRT is a vital public transport project for the people of Karachi, adding that its timely completion is among the provincial government’s highest priorities.
He directed all the departments concerned to resolve all the issues facing the project immediately through mutual cooperation, effective coordination and timely decisions so that the project can be completed within the stipulated time frame.
