LAKKI MARWAT: A local cement factory distributed loader rickshaws, sewing machines and laptops among deserving beneficiaries as part of efforts to strengthen community development through a corporate social responsibility initiative.
The distribution ceremony was held on the premises of the factory in Darra Pezu town of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday. LCL’s executive director, Noman Hasan, was the chief guest on the occasion. Other key participants included general manager operation Shabeer Ahmad, deputy general manager Muhammad Anwar Tariq, other management officials and elders of the town.
Noman gave the keys of loader rickshaws to 20 lucky beneficiaries while male relatives of 14 widows received sewing machines. Similarly, 29 students, who completed an IT course with the support of the cement production unit, were given free laptops.
Speaking on the occasion, the executive director said that the initiative was aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, promoting women’s economic empowerment, and supporting students and youth through access to digital learning resources.
“The loader rickshaws will help beneficiaries establish income-generating businesses, while the stitching machines will enable women to earn a sustainable livelihood from home,” he maintained. He said that the provision of laptops would help students to pursue education and develop essential digital skills.
