ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) on Monday organized solidarity walks at its Head Office in Sector G-10/4 and the G-13 Site Office to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, reaffirming support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, says a press release.
Officers, officials, employees and members of the local community participated in the walks carrying Pakistani and Kashmiri flags. They reiterated their commitment to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to peace, justice and human dignity.
Addressing the participants, speakers said August 5 transcends a calendar date and remains etched in national memory. They noted that on August 5, 2019, the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was altered, a move with far-reaching implications for regional politics, diplomacy and prospects for lasting peace in South Asia.
The participants stressed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains one of South Asia’s most significant unresolved issues. They said its peaceful resolution can only be achieved through relevant UN Security Council resolutions, international law and meaningful dialogue.
