LAHORE:A non-profit organisation screened a documentary, titled ‘A separation refused, highlighting the movement for the restoration of the joint electorate in Pakistan,’ here at a local hotel.
The 20-minute film by producer and director of Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) Dawood Akhtar Murad, traces the culmination of separate electorate system in Pakistan’s history and the movement for the restoration of the joint electorate in Pakistan especially during the 1990s to 2001. The film chronicles the efforts of civil society organisations, political leaders, faith communities, and human rights advocates who campaigned for equal citizenship and inclusive democratic participation for religious minorities.
