LAHORE:Scattered rain with partly cloudy, hot and humid weather was witnessed in the City here on Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions during the next 24 hours.
The weather became humid after the scattered rain. According to data from the Meteorological Department, maximum temperature in the city was 31°C while humidity was 52 per cent.The average AQI of the city was 96, which came in moderate category while the PM2.5 concentration was 6.6 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value.Met officials said weak monsoon currents were penetrating in upper and eastern parts while a westerly wave was also affecting northwestern parts of the country.
They predicted that mainly hot and humid weather was expected over most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thundershowers was expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and northeast/central Punjab while isolated heavyfalls may also occur during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, a report of Met office revealed that the national mean temperature of 32°C, which was +0.7°C warmer than average of 31.3°C and ranked 7th warmest in the past 56 years. Similarly, the country-level nighttime (minimum) temperature (26.1°C) but with a little higher amount of +0.8°C than the countrywide average of 25.3°C and ranked 4th warmest (record being 26.6°C in 2024).
The national area-weighted rainfall of 54.4 mm was slightly below average with a negative departure of -11% in July-2026. The hottest day of the month was observed at Turbat (Balochistan) on 7th, 12th, 30th & 31st July when it recordeda maximum temperature of 48.5°C. Whereas, the station Sibbi proved to be the warmest place with a mean monthly maximum temperature of 44.8°C.The coldest night temperature of 8°C of the month was recorded at Bagrote (Gilgit-Baltistan) on 26th July. Coincidently, the same station happened to be the coldest place with mean monthly minimum temperature of 13.4°C.
