LAHORE:Speakers at a ceremony held to commemorate Police Martyrs Day on Wednesday paid glowing tribute to courage, dedication and sacrifices of the police martyrs in safeguarding the citizens.
Punjab IG Abdul Karim presided over a ceremony at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh to commemorate Police Martyrs Day and pay tribute to the brave police personnel who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The ceremony was attended by Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana, senior officers of the armed forces, high-ranking police officials and a large number of families of police martyrs. Medals were presented to the families of the fallen heroes along-with gifts to their children.
Addressing the gathering, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana highlighted the welfare initiatives being implemented under the Police Martyrs Package. He stated that from 2024 to 2026, residential plots and houses worth Rs143million were provided to 10 families of martyrs, while financial assistance amounting to Rs43million was extended to another 10 bereaved families.
He said scholarships worth Rs35.9million were awarded to the children of 124 martyrs, while more than Rs10.9million was disbursed among 25 families under the dowry assistance scheme.
The CCPO said Lahore Police continue to strengthen its welfare framework for the families of martyrs. "As many as 343 brave personnel of Lahore Police have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty to protect the public," Kamyana said. "Their sacrifices are a source of pride for the nation and will forever remain etched in our collective memory. The remembrance of our martyrs is not confined to a single day; they live in our hearts every day of the year."
Reaffirming the department's commitment to the families of the martyrs, the CCPO said the bond between Lahore Police and the heirs of its fallen heroes continues to grow stronger with time, adding that the force will always stand by them in every hour of need.
Describing Lahore Police as a model law enforcement agency, Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated that the force remains committed to ensuring the protection of the lives, property and dignity of citizens around the clock. He affirmed that every policemen stands ready to render any sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Meanwhile, IG Abdul Karim and CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana visited the grave of martyred DIG Syed Ahmed Mobin to pay tribute to his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.The two senior police officers laid a floral wreath at the martyr’s grave, offered Fateha and honoured his outstanding services and sacrifice for the country and the nation. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a ceremonial salute to the fallen officer.Members of the martyr’s family, DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion.
