Journalist shot dead in Dera Allahyar

QUETTA: A local journalist, working with a social media channel was gunned down in Dera Allahyar town of Jaffarabad district, on Tuesday.

Police said that an armed man opened fire on the journalist who was identified as Nazar Muhammad Kanrani in Ladies bazar in Dera Allahyar. Kanrani received multiple bullet injuries causing his death while his brother was injured in the firing.

Police rushed to the site soon after receiving information and shifted the body and injured to district hospital Dera Allahyar. The injured was identified as Pervez Ali who was shifted to Sukkur for further treatment as his condition was critical.

The cause of the killing was not known so far. However, police have arrested accused Hafiz and further investigation is in progress. However, some sources said that the cause of the killing was a dispute over land.

The journalist was a resident of Sohbatpur district and worked for a web as senior reporter. He was also vice president of Awami Press Club Sohbatpur.
