KARACHI: The Sindh government and police leadership on Monday paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of Sindh Police on the occasion of Sindh Police Martyrs’ Day, reaffirming their commitment to the welfare of the families of fallen personnel and vowing to continue the fight against terrorism, crime and lawlessness.
In his message, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar described the martyrs of Sindh police as the nation’s true heroes, saying their sacrifices had laid the foundation for a peaceful and secure future. He said the brave officers and personnel fulfilled their oath by sacrificing their lives to protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that their sacrifices could never be forgotten.
The home minister said the Sindh government considered the welfare of the families of martyred police personnel among its highest priorities. He said financial assistance, quality education for children, medical treatment and other welfare initiatives were being strengthened to ensure the families of the martyrs received the support they deserved. He emphasised that although no amount of benefits could repay the sacrifice of a martyr, the government would leave no stone unturned to address the needs of their families.
Lanjar said securing the future of the children of martyred police personnel was the best tribute to those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He added that the government had adopted a clear policy that the state would never abandon the families of those who sacrificed their loved ones for the peace and security of the nation.
Paying tribute to the courage of police personnel, the home minister said the Sindh police had stood firmly against terrorism, crime and unrest, defending the state and the public with exceptional bravery. He stressed that the sacrifices of the martyrs symbolised the determination to uphold the writ of the state against criminal elements under all circumstances.
He also called on society to honour and support the families of police martyrs, saying the courage shown by their mothers, widows and children remained a source of inspiration for the entire nation. Lanjar said the uniform represented responsibility and sacrifice rather than merely a dress, adding that the services of police personnel who sacrificed their comfort, families and ultimately their lives for public safety could never be fully acknowledged in words.
The home minister said the peace enjoyed by millions of citizens today was the result of the sacrifices rendered by police martyrs. He reaffirmed that the government would continue taking practical measures for the immediate resolution of issues faced by the families of martyred personnel while ensuring that the campaign against crime continued with full determination.
Meanwhile, the Karachi police, in a separate statement issued by the office of the Additional Inspector General Karachi, also paid rich tribute to police martyrs, describing them as symbols of courage, pride and resilience. The statement said the sacrifices of the martyrs had played a vital role in maintaining peace and public order and assured that the force remained committed to protecting the dignity, welfare and well-being of the families of fallen officers.
The Karachi police said Police Martyrs’ Day served as a reminder of the force’s pledge to honour the sacrifices of the martyrs by continuing to perform its duties with professionalism, dedication and responsibility to protect citizens, uphold the rule of law and maintain peace in the city.
In his special message, Dr Maqsood Ahmed said Police Martyrs’ Day was not only an occasion of remembrance but also an opportunity to salute officers and personnel who placed their professional responsibilities above their own lives. He said the martyrs of Sindh Police represented courage, determination and unwavering commitment to duty.
He paid tribute to the families of the martyrs for their patience and perseverance despite their immense personal loss. He said the heirs of police martyrs were an integral part of the Sindh police family and that their welfare remained a collective responsibility of the department. He also renewed the pledge to uphold the mission of the martyrs and continue safeguarding law, order and public safety.
Separately, Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said Sindh Police Martyrs’ Day was an occasion to honour the brave personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said the Sindh police continued to perform its responsibilities with dedication and professionalism to protect lives, property and uphold the rule of law across the province.
The IG said the Sindh Plpolice had carried out decisive operations against terrorists, criminals and armed robbers, resulting in a significant improvement in the province’s law and order situation. He reaffirmed that the force remained on the front lines in the fight against crime and pledged that the families of police martyrs would never be left alone.
Additional Inspector General Karachi Javed Alam Odho also renewed the force’s commitment to carrying forward the mission of the martyrs with honesty, professionalism and unwavering determination, saying the Karachi police would continue making every sacrifice necessary to ensure peace, justice and the rule of law. He described the sacrifices of the martyrs as a guiding light for future generations and a lasting source of inspiration for the entire police force.
