SUKKUR: Shikarpur Police shot dead a most-wanted dacoit, while Larkana Police arrested six dacoits following separate encounters, here on Tuesday.SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem said that, an operation was launched, with the assistance of civilian intelligence agencies, against suspects allegedly involved in the martyrdom of Constable Saddam Otho. The encounter took place near Shar Laro Bypass within the limits of Stuart Gunj Police Station, where robbers were allegedly present with the intention of committing a robbery.
During the exchange of fire, one robber, identified as Ameer Bakhsh Jatoi Kamalani, was killed. SSP Shikarpur claimed the deceased robber was wanted in several criminal cases and was involved in the murder of Constable Saddam Otho. He added that more than 13 serious cases, including drug trafficking, murder, robbery, theft and police encounters, were registered against the deceased. The suspect was also active in recent robbery incidents in Khanpur and surrounding areas. Police recovered one Kalashnikov rifle along with ammunition from the possession of the suspect. A search operation is underway to arrest the other robbers who fled after the encounter.
SSP Kaleem said that, in collaboration with intelligence agencies, a joint crackdown against illegal immigrants was conducted near Kundan Bypass, where 17 illegal immigrants were taken into custody from a van. The detainees included 10 men, five women and two children who were travelling from Shikarpur to Karachi in the van. Police said that, after completion of legal formalities, the arrested illegal immigrants would be shifted to the relevant camp, from where they would be repatriated to Afghanistan in accordance with the procedure.
Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar appreciated Shikarpur Police and further said that effective coordination between police and intelligence agencies was playing a key role in operations against criminals. He directed that the ongoing search operation to arrest absconding suspects be made more effective.
Meanwhile, Larkana Police carried out operations at three different locations and arrested six robbers in injured condition after encounters, recovering weapons, stolen mobile phones and motorcycles.
SSP Larkana Ahmed Chaudhry said that the first encounter took place within the limits of Naudero Police Station in the Bhatti Laro area. During the exchange of fire, two robbers, Imran Khokhar and Ghulam Mustafa Bhutto Lashari, were arrested in injured condition. Police recovered two TT pistols, three snatched mobile phones and one CD-70 motorcycle. The recovered mobile phones belonged to citizens Faisal Rehman, Saeed Ramzan Mangnejo and Shehmir Morio. The CD-70 motorcycle is being verified.
He said that the second encounter occurred in the Arijo Road area within Walid Police Station limits. During the exchange of fire, two robbers, Jamil alias Athar Junejo and Mir alias Major Khokhar, were arrested in injured condition. Police recovered two pistols and one Honda 125 motorcycle snatched from citizen Malook Solangi.
He said that the third encounter took place in the Loco Shed area within Civil Lines Police Station limits. During the cross-fire, two robbers, Hasnain Raza Channo and Farman Khokhar, were arrested in injured condition. Police recovered two pistols and one CD-70 motorcycle snatched from citizen Babar Ali Jakhar.
