PESHAWAR: Two wanted suspects were killed during an exchange of fire with police in the Regi area of Peshawar, while their accomplices managed to escape, police said on Monday.
According to the Capital City Police Peshawar, police received information that proclaimed offenders Adil alias Adilay, Aqib, Sher Dil, Ikhtiarullah and Nauman, who were allegedly involved in the recent attack on Tehkal Police Station and wanted in several serious criminal cases, were present in the Regi area.
Acting on the information, police teams led by the DSP Town, along with the SHOs of Tehkal and Regi police stations and additional personnel, raided the suspected hideouts. However, the suspects had already fled before the police reached the locations.
While returning from the operation, the police party came under heavy fire near the Regi graveyard from the wanted suspects. Bullets struck and damaged an official police pickup. Police said that during the exchange of fire, two suspects were allegedly killed after being hit by bullets fired by their own accomplices.
