PESHAWAR/ABBOTTABAD: Girls swept the top positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2026 as the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar and Abbottabad announced the results on Tuesday.
The students of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II, Dilzak Road, maintained their tradition of academic excellence by clinching the top three positions in BISE Peshawar.The results were unveiled at an award distribution ceremony for the position holders held on the premises of the board. Secretary Education Mohammad Khalid was the chief guest on the occasion. The ceremony was also attended by BISE Peshawar Chairman Khuda Bakhsh, Controller of Examinations Inamullah Shah, position-holder students, their teachers, parents and others.
Omama Ali, daughter of Liaqat Ali and a student of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II, Dalazak Road, topped the board by securing 1,182 out of a total of 1,200 marks. She was followed by Syed Atika Shah, daughter of Hazrat Shah, who obtained the second position with 1,178 marks, while Hareem Khan, daughter of Shahid Raza, secured the third position with 1,177 marks. All three students belong to the same institution.
In the Humanities Group, Mohammad Abuzar, son of Mohammad Yaseen and a student of Usmania Children Academy, Nauthia Jadeed, Peshawar, secured the first position with 1,088 marks. Saira Zafar, daughter of Sadiqur Rahman and a private candidate, stood second with 1,074 marks, while Sheikh Mohammad Hamdan, son of Ghufranullah and a student of the same academy, remained third with 1,062 marks.
Among special children, Mehmood Ayaz Khankhail, son of Ayaz Mohammad Khan and a student of Umeed Special Education School, Warsak Road, Peshawar, stood first with 1,060 marks. Rabia Bibi, daughter of Fazal Haq, and Muhammad Azan Khalid, son of Mohammad Khalid, both students of the same school, secured the second and third positions with 1,052 and 1,051 marks, respectively.
According to the gazette book, a total of 95,496 students, including 61,712 boys and 33,794 girls, appeared in the Class 10 examination. Of them, 66,988 passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 70.15.
In the Class 9 examination, a total of 97,950 students appeared. Of them, 39,103 passed the examination, while another 57,847 were promoted to the next grade, resulting in an overall success rate of 98.98 percent.
Alkhidmat Foundation School and College, Behlola, Charsadda, also produced excellent results. A total of 72 students appeared in the examination from the institution, all of whom passed, giving the school a 100 percent success rate. Of them, 42 secured A-1 grades. Principal Haroon Khan said that a significant number of the students were orphans and had delivered outstanding results despite the challenges they faced.
In Abbottabad, the female students dominated the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2026, securing all top positions in both the overall merit list and the Arts Group.
According to the officials, 72,677 candidates appeared in the Grade 10 examination, of whom 57,952 qualified, while 313 remained absent. In the Grade 9 examination, 72,367 candidates appeared, 46,219 passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 64.45 percent, while 649 candidates remained absent.
In the overall merit and Science Group, Ayesha Zeb, daughter of Aurang Zeb, a student of Tameer-i-Wattan Public Schools and Colleges Mansehra, secured the first position with 1,167 marks. Fatima Jadoon, daughter of Abdul Wahid Khan, of Tameer-i-Wattan Public School and Girls College, Jinnahabad, Mandian, Abbottabad, clinched the second position by securing 1,163 marks, while Uswa Mehreen, daughter of Aamir Shahzad, from Tameer-i-Wattan Public School and Girls College, Ghazikot, Mansehra, obtained the third position with 1,160 marks.
In the Arts Group, Zainab Bibi, daughter of Sajid Mehmood, of Government Girls High School Baldher, Haripur, secured the first position with 1,131 marks, Zainab Tahir, daughter of Tahir Mehmood, from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sarai Saleh, Haripur, stood second with 1,075 marks, while Khansa Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Affan, from the same institution, claimed the third position with 1,072 marks.
The Grade 10 results reflected an encouraging academic performance across the Board’s jurisdiction. In the Regular Science (Female) category, 18,229 candidates appeared and 14,991 passed, recording a pass percentage of 82.47 percent, while 29,047 out of 33,590 Regular Science (Male) candidates qualified, registering the highest pass percentage of 86.86 percent.
Among Regular Arts candidates, 5,625 of 8,604 female students passed, recording a 65.61 percent success rate, whereas 3,265 out of 4,300 male candidates qualified, achieving a 76.29 percent pass percentage.
In the Private Science category, 352 out of 688 female candidates and 1,130 out of 1,521 male candidates passed, while 1,436 of 2,489 Private Arts female candidates and 2,106 of 3,256 Private Arts male candidates successfully cleared the examination.
The Grade 9 results also showed encouraging performance. Among Science Group candidates, 19,481 female and 35,427 male students appeared, recording pass percentages of 69.15 percent and 71.05 percent, respectively. In the Arts Group, the pass percentages stood at 43.62 percent for female candidates and 48.76 percent for male candidates.
Addressing the ceremony, BISE Abbottabad Chairman Inayatullah Wasim congratulated all successful candidates, particularly the position holders and high achievers, describing their outstanding performance as a reflection of their hard work, perseverance and dedication, as well as the invaluable support of their parents, teachers and educational institutions.
He said the Board remained committed to improving educational standards and modernising the examination system through technology-driven reforms aimed at ensuring transparency, merit, fairness, accuracy and academic excellence.
“Our students are the hope of the nation and the architects of its future,” the chairman said, adding that BISE Abbottabad would continue introducing reforms to strengthen public confidence in the examination system and maintain its reputation as one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s leading educational boards.
