Islamabad:An Afghan-origin Australian passport holder was intercepted and offloaded at Islamabad International Airport by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration officers after allegedly securing a Pakistani family visa using a counterfeit marriage certificate.
The traveler was stopped during a secondary profiling assessment prior to boarding Emirates flight EK-613 bound for Australia. Upon detailed examination of his travel documentation, immigration officials determined that the passenger had obtained his Pakistani visa through fraudulent means, presenting a forged Nikah Nama (marriage certificate) claiming a union with a Pakistani national, Maryam Anwar.
During questioning, the passenger was unable to produce any substantiating evidence of the marriage. Subsequent verification by authorities confirmed that the marriage registration document was entirely fabricated to facilitate the visa application process.
Preliminary inquiries by the FIA indicate that the individual entered Pakistan on May 29, 2026, on the fraudulently acquired visa, having allegedly paid an Australia-based agent 300 Australian dollars to procure the paperwork. Following his removal from the flight, the passenger was transferred to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Islamabad for formal legal proceedings as investigations continue.
