Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced the nationwide implementation of a standardized, fully digital police clearance certificate system to streamline bureaucratic processes for citizens traveling and working abroad.
The decision was approved in principle during an executive meeting chaired by the minister at the National Police Bureau (NPB) on Tuesday, coinciding with nationwide observances for Police Martyrs Day.
Under the new directive, the existing, multi-tiered manual application process for character certificates will be replaced by a centralized digital portal managed directly by the NPB. The initiative allows citizens to apply for and obtain verification remotely. In addition to the clearance system, Naqvi instructed authorities to establish a uniform framework for issuing international driving permits to facilitate overseas travelers.
"Making the National Police Bureau an active and dynamic institution is our priority," Naqvi stated, noting that standardized documentation will significantly reduce administrative hurdles for Pakistanis moving abroad. The visit also included a progress inspection of ongoing renovations at the NPB facility, following an operational briefing by the Bureau’s Director General.
