LAHORE:A delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited Middle Tech Literacy Centres of the Department of Literacy and Non Formal Education.
The delegation, led by JICA President Dr Akihiko Tanaka, Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Shuichi Akamatsu, and JICA Pakistan Chief Representative Yusuke Shinozaki, toured centres in Fatah Garh and Tajpura.
During the visit, the delegation met children, reviewed facilities and teaching processes and distributed gifts. They also handed out textbooks enabling them to continue their next stage of learning. Secretary Literacy Syed Haider Iqbal briefed the delegation on projects being run with JICA’s support as well as other non formal education initiatives and future goals of the department. Both sides also discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation for the education of out-of-school children, reaffirming their commitment to work together for expanding learning opportunities.
