LAHORE:Edhi Foundation made special arrangements to provide emergency medical assistance to mourners during the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to the foundation, 20 ambulances and 150 trained volunteers have been deployed along the central procession route, while a dedicated medical camp has also been established at Gama Shah Chowk to provide first aid and emergency services.
The procession will pass through key areas, including Haveli Alif Shah, Kashmiri Bazaar, Wazir Khan Mosque, Rang Mahal Chowk and Gama Shah Chowk. Trained volunteers, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and paramedical staff will remain stationed at different points along the route to deal with any medical emergencies.An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said the medical camp at Gama Shah Chowk would provide immediate first aid facilities, while ambulances accompanying the procession would ensure prompt medical response whenever required.
Meanwhile, Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) ensured comprehensive sanitation arrangements across the city on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), deploying more than 700 sanitation workers to facilitate mourners and devotees.
SPAL CEO Shehryar Arif Khan, accompanied by Deputy CEOs Altaf Ansari and Mubeen Ahsan, along with the GM Operations, personally inspected sanitation arrangements. The officials visited the Data Darbar, Chehlum procession routes and several areas of the Walled City to review the progress of the special cleanliness operation. Shehryar Arif said that 370 sanitation workers were assigned exclusively to the Walled City, where manual sweeping, mechanical washing and waste clearance operations continued uninterrupted.
Cleaning teams remained stationed along all major procession routes, including Mughal Haveli, Nisar Haveli, Kotwali Chowk, Sunehri Mosque, Rang Mahal, Pani Wala Talab, Tibbi Thana, Tehsil Bazar, Adda Hakiman, Bhati Gate, Karbala Gamay Shah, Delhi Gate, Gali Suraj Singh and the vicinity of Masjid Wazir Khan.
