LAHORE:Experts said here promoting modern medical technology and evidence-based treatments, particularly Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), can significantly improve access to safe, effective, and high-quality kidney care for patients across Pakistan.
A seminar titled “The Future of Nephrology and Peritoneal Dialysis in Pakistan” was organised by Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society (MKRMS), the charitable arm of Jang Group of Newspapers, in collaboration with Pakistan Society of Nephrology (PSN).
The scientific event brought together leading nephrologists, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and medical experts from across the country to discuss future of kidney disease management and expansion of Peritoneal Dialysis in Pakistan.
The seminar highlighted advances in nephrology, strategies to expand access to PD, and importance of patient-centered treatment approaches. Experts emphasised PD is a home-based renal replacement therapy that provides patients with greater independence, convenience, fewer hospital visits, and an improved quality of life.
Speakers also underscored importance of innovation, collaboration, and medical education in enhancing care for patients suffering from chronic kidney disease.A key highlight of the seminar was discussion on availability of advanced PD technology in Pakistan. Participants welcomed the introduction of an FDA-approved Peritoneal Dialysis cycler by Byonyks, which offers nephrologists a modern and effective treatment option for suitable patients.
The development was described as a major milestone in advancing PD technology in Pakistan, improving kidney care, enhancing patient convenience, and expanding treatment options for healthcare providers.
