ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Shanghai Spirit and to advancing cooperation, connectivity, and shared growth among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
Addressing the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, the deputy prime minister thanked the Kyrgyz leadership and Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev for their warm hospitality and excellent arrangements in hosting the SCO CFM.
DPM/FM extended felicitations on the SCO’s 25th anniversary and highlighted the organisation’s important work for regional peace, security, prosperity, and sustainable development.
He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for regional peace, including the Islamabad Talks and the subsequent Islamabad MoU, which reflected Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy. He also thanked his counterparts for their recognition and appreciation of Pakistan’s sincere efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
DPM/FM conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September 2026 and welcomed all SCO Member States to Pakistan for the CHS Summit in 2027.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with the Heads of Delegation of the SCO Member States, participated in the Joint Painting Ceremony on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The ceremony featured a symbolic painting of tree branches, representing the shared aspirations for peace, friendship, cooperation, and collective prosperity among the SCO Member States, a DPM’s Office news release said.
