One suspected robber was killed, another was arrested in an injured condition, and a police constable sustained bullet injuries in two separate alleged encounters on Wednesday.
The first encounter took place near Dua Hotel on Mauripur Road within the limits of the Kalri police station, where officers exchanged fire with armed suspects. During the shootout, one suspected robber, believed to be around 30 years old, was killed. His identity could not immediately be ascertained. A police constable, Abdul Faeez, 26, son of AbdulRasheed, also sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
The body of the deceased suspect and the injured policeman were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. The police said an accomplice of the slain suspect managed to escape while firing at officers. A pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash were recovered from the deceased suspect. The injured policeman was posted at the Kalri police station.
In a separate incident, the Sacchal police arrested an alleged robber in an injured condition after an exchange of fire near Chandio Chowk. The arrested suspect was identified as Khuda Dad, 26, son of Lal Bakhsh. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
The police said the suspect’s accomplice escaped from the scene. Officers recovered a pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, cash, and a motorcycle from the arrested suspect.
