LAHORE:Operational teams of Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore have been mobilised across the city to ensure timely waste clearance and smooth drainage amid forecasts of heavy monsoon rainfall in Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
The deployment was carried out on the directives of Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Umer Javed, as part of a comprehensive cleanliness plan aimed at preventing water accumulation during and after rainfall. Sanitation teams are conducting manual sweeping and removing waste from roads, drains and public areas to facilitate uninterrupted drainage. Cleaning staff remain on high alert at major roads, commercial centres and public spaces to maintain efficient waste disposal operations. During rainfall, dedicated teams remained active at key locations, including Kalma Chowk, Barkat Market, M.M. Alam Road, Main Market Gulberg and the vicinity of Gaddafi Stadium.
Special cleaning arrangements were also made on Jail Road, The Mall, Data Darbar, Circular Road, Ek Moriya Bridge, Do Moriya Bridge and McLeod Road.Additional sanitation teams have been deployed at Lakshmi Chowk, Shadman Market, Gulberg, Barkat Market, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce area, Beadon Road Bazaar and Temple Road to ensure timely waste removal and smooth drainage.
The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore is also continuing routine clearance of more than 7,000 waste containers across the city, while door-to-door waste collection through loader rickshaws has remained uninterrupted despite the rainfall.
Under the Chief Minister’s vision of a “Suthra Punjab”, the agency’s teams remain committed to maintaining cleanliness standards and ensuring effective drainage throughout the monsoon season.
