QUETTA: At least three people were killed and four others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between two vehicles on the National Highway in the Naghar area of Sorab district on Tuesday, police said.
According to preliminary reports, one vehicle was travelling from Quetta to Karachi while the other was heading from Karachi to Quetta when they collided head-on, resulting in the fatal accident.
The deceased were identified as Talha, 25, son of Haji Sadiq, a resident of Quetta; Habib Shah, 22, son of Shoaib Ahmed Shah, a resident of Nushki; and Muhiuddin, 60, son of Mohammad Haleem, a resident of Pishin.
The injured were identified as Siraj Ahmed, 28, son of Abdul Hai, a resident of Quetta, who is reported to be in critical condition; Inamullah, son of Khalil Ahmed, a resident of Quetta; Javed Iqbal, 38, son of Abdul Sattar, a resident of Quetta; and Saifullah, 45, son of Haji Akhtar Mohammad, a resident of Pishin.
Soon after receiving information about the accident, Sorab police and local residents rushed to the scene and launched rescue efforts. Police restored the flow of traffic on the highway while assisting in the emergency response. The injured were provided first aid before being shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the hospital to complete legal formalities.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash.
