No laxity to be tolerated at public hospitals: minister

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir said that no negligence or laxity in service delivery at public hospitals would be tolerated and that the government was committed to ensuring the provision of timely, high-quality, and dignified healthcare services to all citizens.

Provincial health minister issued this warning during his unannounced visit to the THQ Hospital Manawan on Tuesday. During the visit, he reviewed in detail the implementation of the directives issued during his previous visit. Additional Secretary (Technical), the CEO (Health), the Medical Superintendent and other officials were also present on this occasion.

The minister inspected the emergency department, various wards, the pharmacy, and the laboratory. He also reviewed the availability of medicines, service delivery, and the hospital's overall administrative performance.

He also interacted with patients undergoing treatment and their attendants to inquire about the quality of healthcare services being provided. He also met the janitorial staff and security guards and inquired about their salaries and other employment benefits.

During a briefing, officials informed the minister that the Hospital Management System was functioning effectively and that the cameras installed for real-time monitoring were fully operational.
