MINGORA: Police in Swat arrested three suspected men and recovered a cache of illegal weapons during an operation in the Saidu Sharif area of Swat district, officials said on Sunday.
Police officials said that the security personnel, while conducting routine checking in the hilly area of Officerabad, in the jurisdiction of Saidu Sharif Police Station, intercepted and detained three suspects. The arrested persons were identified as Musa, Rehmatullah and Muhammad Karim.
The officials said that two of the suspects were residents of Khyber district, while the third belongs to Gumbat Mira area of Mingora.
During the operation, they said, the security personnel allegedly recovered one M4 rifle, two .308-bore rifles, one .30-bore rifle, and 312 rounds of ammunition of various calibers from the suspects’ possession.
The suspects, along with the seized weapons, were shifted to Saidu Sharif Police Station, where a case has been registered. Police officials said further investigation and legal proceedings are underway. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the suspects or the purpose of possessing the weapons.
