Rawalpindi: The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) has approved an annual budget of Rs11 billion for the financial year 2026-27, in which the expenditure has been estimated at around Rs10 billion.
The Corporation's Administrator and Commissioner Rawalpindi, Chief Municipal Officer and Municipal Finance Officer approved the budget. In the approved budget, Rs3 billion has been allocated for the annual development program, while a total of Rs2 billion has been allocated for the restoration, repair and maintenance of road cuts, patchwork, street lights, traffic signals, infrastructure, buildings and residences, of which Rs1.73 billion will be spent on the development schemes of the previous year.
Similarly, a total of Rs519.824 million has been allocated for Community Board Based Organization (CBO) deposit works and sports and cultural activities, of which Rs100 million on CBO, Rs212.824 million on deposit works and Rs100 million on deposit works. Rs207 million will be spent on sports and cultural activities.
Thus, the total expenditure estimate for the current fiscal year has been kept at Rs9 billion 905.8 million 23 thousand, out of which Rs7 billion 253.9 million 91 thousand has been allocated for development expenses and the remaining amount has been allocated for non-development expenses including salaries and pensions. In the next fiscal year, the corporation is expected to earn Rs1 billion 655 million in tax revenue and Rs2 billion 386.4 million in non-tax revenue targets.
