PESHAWAR: A police constable was martyred and 17 others were injured in an exchange of fire between police and militants in the Laram mountain range of Adenzai tehsil in Lower Dir on Wednesday.
According to police, the injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital.
One of the injured, who was in critical condition, was later referred to Peshawar for advanced medical treatment.
Police said intermittent heavy gunfire between the militants and police continued for several hours in the Laram area.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation to track down the militants.
