PESHAWAR: The Provincial Management Service (PMS) Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday expressed concern over the alleged treatment of three officials of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) by the special assistant to the chief minister on Tourism.
Speaking to Geo News, PMS Association Chairman Nauman Wazir said that the Constitution does not permit the humiliation or mistreatment of any government officer.
He stressed that accountability of civil servants must be carried out strictly in accordance with the Constitution, the law, and the relevant service rules.
The PMS Association chief said there is a well-defined legal procedure for seeking explanations from government officials, which includes the issuance of a written notice and an opportunity for the officer concerned to respond.
He said it was essential to prevent the recurrence of such incidents involving public servants in the province.
Nauman Wazir added that governance could not be conducted through publicity on social media, and that if an officer was found negligent, disciplinary action should be taken strictly in accordance with the law and the applicable service rules.
He said that when those in authority themselves uphold the rule of law, the public is also encouraged to respect and follow the law.
