PESHAWAR: A court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 25 years’ imprisonment for the murder of a 65-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed inside her home in Phase-III in Hayatabad.
The case was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Imtiaz Ali, who handed down the sentence after finding the accused guilty on the basis of prosecution’s evidence and arguments presented during the trial.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on October 10, 2022, when Asif, a domestic worker employed at the residence of Munawar Riaz in Phase-III, Hayatabad, allegedly attacked the homeowner’s 65-year-old wife and stabbed her to death with a knife inside the house.
Investigators said that the crime was reportedly linked to a dispute over an increase in wages. The complainant in the case was represented by advocates Zahir Shah Marwat and Bashir Ahmad Khan.
