Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, accompanied by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho and provincial ministers Mukesh Kumar Chawla and Gyan Chand Asrani, visited the residence of slain Dr Akash Kumar on Tuesday to offer condolences to his family.
Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, Lanjar said the Sindh government stood with them in their time of grief and assured them that all those responsible for the killing would be brought to justice. He said a transparent, impartial and merit-based investigation was underway from every angle, adding that the government would ensure the early delivery of justice.
“The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the government’s foremost responsibility, and those involved in such crimes deserve no leniency,” he said. Mayor Murtaza Wahab said the entire city was mourning the loss of Dr Akash Kumar and reiterated that providing justice to the victim’s family remained the Sindh government’s top priority.
Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla described the killing as a tragedy for the entire community and said the government would continue to support the bereaved family until justice was served.
Provincial Minister Gyan Chand Asrani paid tribute to Dr Akash Kumar, describing him as a respected individual dedicated to public service. He said the government was committed to ensuring that those responsible receive the maximum punishment under the law.
IGP Javed Alam Odho assured the family that the investigation was being pursued on a priority basis and that the Sindh police were using all available resources to identify and arrest those involved. He said the case would be taken to its logical conclusion and the accused would be brought before the courts.
