LAHORE:Newly-appointed Inspector General Prisons, Mian Salik Jalal, called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider at Governor's House here. Governor congratulated the IG Prisons on assuming office and expressed his best wishes.
The IG Prisons briefed the governor on the facilities provided to the prisoners.Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Saleem said that the prisoners serving their sentence are entitled to basic human rights because they are not only criminals but also human beings. He said that special attention needs to be paid to the reformation of prisoners and making them productive citizens of society. The governor said that all possible resources should be ensured to provide basic facilities to the prisoners. He said that along with moral training, the prisoners should also be given various technical trainings so that they can earn their livelihood after their release. Governor said that all possible steps should be taken to make the jail environment clean and peaceful. He said that medical facilities are necessary for the health of the prisoners. He said that those who spread disorder and chaos in the jail should be dealt with iron hands.
On this occasion, IG Prisons Mian Salik Jalal briefed the Governor of Punjab and said that various steps have been taken for the welfare of the prisoners in the jails of Punjab. He said that along with providing basic facilities to the prisoners in the jails, the environment in the jail has also been improved.
