PMDC increases seats in medical, dental colleges

LAHORE:The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has approved an increase of 475 seats in government medical colleges of Punjab. After the request of the Punjab government in 2025 and the special efforts of Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, it has become possible to increase 475 seats in government medical and dental colleges. After the increase in seats, more students will get opportunities for medical education in colleges of Punjab.

A meeting of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council was held on Tuesday. It is worth mentioning that earlier the number of seats in medical colleges was 3,476 and with an increase of 475, the total number of seats has become 3,951. By combining the seats of medical and dental colleges, this number was previously 3,766 and now this number has increased to 4,241.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that he appreciates the special efforts of Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood and his team for increasing the seats in medical colleges. He also thanked the PMDC for the increase in seats.
