KARACHI: The Board of Directors of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Tuesday confirmed Nadeem Khan as the company’s chief executive officer (CEO), according to a statement.
Khan had initially taken charge of PTCL as CEO for 14 days, effective July 2. This confirmation formalises that appointment, making him the company’s permanent CEO.Khan’s telecommunication career spans over two decades with PTCL and Ufone, in addition to more than seven years of international assignments with Millicom International Cellular. He joined Ufone as chief financial officer in 2003, a role he held for a decade.
He was appointed group chief financial officer at PTCL and Ufone in 2017, going on to oversee the company’s financial strategy through a period of major transformation, including the Telenor Pakistan acquisition. He also sits on the board of U Microfinance Bank.
Khan is a chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He currently serves as a member of the Accounting Standards Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
In his new role, Khan will lead PTCL’s efforts to expand and modernise its wireline network, with a strong focus on fiberisation and the rollout of next-generation digital services across the country, and to enhance the company’s leadership in the B2B segment.
